Sucrose, commonly known as sugar, is a primary source of energy for the human body. It can be extracted from both sugar beet and sugarcane. Sugar is produced in various forms and widely used across different industries as well as in everyday consumption. The chemical formula of sucrose is C₁₂H₂₂O₁₁. Sucrose is a disaccharide composed of one glucose molecule and two fructose molecules. Both glucose and fructose are simple sugars (monosaccharides).

Molasses is a by-product of sugar beet processing, obtained during the extraction of sugar. It is widely used in the production of alcohol, yeast, and animal feed industries.

Beet pulp refers to the cut pieces left after sugar extraction from sugar beets. During the drying process, the moisture is removed by exposure to hot air, and the pulp is stored in flake form. Most sugar factories mix beet pulp flakes with molasses; once the mixture becomes sticky, it is shaped and sold as compressed pulp briquettes (BRICET), commonly used as animal feed.
